The cookies on this site, and how to control them.
This page lists every cookie set by mylifetimecare.co.uk. There are not many. None are advertising cookies; none share data with third parties beyond what is necessary to operate the site. The full context for our handling of personal data is on the privacy notice.
What a cookie is, briefly
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website you visit. Cookies are used to remember things between page visits and to gather anonymous information about how the site is being used.
Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, PECR, as amended), a website must obtain consent before setting non-essential cookies. Essential cookies (those strictly necessary to provide the service the visitor has explicitly requested) do not require consent.
The cookies this site uses
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
mlc_session | Keeps your session active during form completion. Required for the Care Calculator and callback form to work. | Essential | Session |
mlc_cookie_consent | Remembers your cookie preferences so we don’t ask you again on every page. | Essential | 12 months |
_iap_* | Independent Analytics (cookie-less by default). If you have opted in to analytics, this is the anonymous visitor tracker. We do not see your IP address or any personally identifiable information. | Analytics (opt-in) | 24 hours |
wp_* | Standard WordPress cookies for administrative logged-in sessions. Not set for ordinary visitors; only present for site administrators. | Essential (admin) | Session / 14 days |
What this site does not use
- Advertising trackers (Google Ads pixel, Meta pixel, Bing UET, LinkedIn Insight)
- Cross-site behavioural tracking
- Social-media share-button cookies
- Third-party embedded video that sets tracking cookies (we host video on our own CDN)
- Heatmap or session-replay tools (Hotjar, FullStory, Mouseflow)
This is a deliberate choice. The website is designed to be used by 50-to-65-year-old families researching a sensitive decision; we don’t think that audience benefits from being followed around the web.
How to control cookies on this site
The cookie banner that appeared on your first visit lets you accept or decline non-essential (analytics) cookies. You can change that preference at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of every page.
How to control cookies in your browser
Every modern browser provides controls for accepting or rejecting cookies. The official documentation pages are the easiest place to start:
If you block all cookies, parts of the website that rely on session state (the Care Calculator and the callback form) may not work.
